As U.S.-Canada tensions boil over, one lawmaker wants to settle it in the ring.

Sen. Patrick Brazeau of Quebec took to X on Thursday to challenge Donald Trump Jr. to a charity boxing match “in light of these bogus tariffs” from his dad, President Donald Trump.

“I challenge you to a fight to raise money for cancer research or an organization of your choosing,” Brazeau posted. “Our countries don’t need to be at war but we can fight to raise money.”

“I’ll fight for my country @DonaldJTrumpJr,” he added. “Will you?”

Brazeau, an Algonquin conservative first elected in 2009, is no stranger to charity bouts.

He took on Justin Trudeau in a charity bout in 2012 — and lost to the future prime minister. The event raised $230,000 for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, the CBC reported at the time.

While Trudeau went on to become Canada’s 23rd prime minister, Brazeau took a different path.

In 2013, Brazeau was forced to take a leave of absence from Canada’s Senate after he was arrested for assault and sexual assault, the CBC reported.

The sexual assault charge was later dropped, and Brazeau was granted an “absolute discharge” after pleading guilty to assault and cocaine charges. He returned to the Senate in 2016.

Brazeau’s boxing challenge comes amid strained relations between the two nations over tariffs and President Trump’s desire to annex Canada as America’s 51st state.

The bad blood between the nations was a constant storyline of last month’s 4 Nations Face-Off hockey tournament that saw booing of each team’s respective national anthem before each game.

Team Canada ultimately emerged victorious over the U.S. in the final.
