‘Don’t Make Any Faces!’ Trump Trial Court Officer Draws Laughs With Instructions To Reporters and Spectators
A court officer for former President Donald Trump’s trial drew laughs with his instructions to reporters and spectators attending the start of closing arguments.
Closing arguments in the Stormy Daniels hush money-election interference trial began Tuesday morning — the last step before the 34 felony counts will go to the jury for deliberations.
As they have every day of the trial, pool cameras covered every instant of the world outside the courtroom, including Trump’s emergence from Trump Tower into his motorcade, the ride to the courthouse, and the scene outside the courtroom.
One camera captured Trump’s motorcade as it rounded the corner toward the courthouse, and a group of about 50 fans with signs and banners screamed their support for Trump, with shouts of “WE LOVE TRUMP! WE LOVE TRUMP! WE LOVE TRUMP!” and “He’s done nothing wrong!”
Inside the courthouse, where some spectators camp out for days to secure a seat, cameras caught a court officer issuing instructions that generated laughter from reporters at times:
All right, gang! You guys have been here before.
Just listen up. Okay. No phones. No phones. No microphones. (laughter).
No phones, no watches, no earpieces! Don’t make any faces! Don’t make any comments, no outbursts. General common sense is what we’re looking for.
Minutes later, Trump entered the courthouse Tuesday morning with some of his grown children, including Tiffany Trump for the first time, in tow. He spoke to reporters for several minutes before heading in.
During that rant, Trump launched familiar false attacks on President Joe Biden and Judge Juan Merchan, and read aloud from printouts of pro-Trump punditry.
Not long after that, the Biden campaign staged a press conference in front of the courthouse — across the street from the same gathering of fans that cheered Trump’s arrival. They could be heard shouting and heckling during the press conference, and mobbed Robert DeNiro, a speaker at the presser, as he left.
