Elon Musk Threatens ‘Thermonuclear Lawsuit’ Against Media Matters After Bombshell Anti-Semitism Report Drives Away Advertisers

Elon Musk threatened to file a “thermonuclear lawsuit” against Media Matters for America after the progressive watchdog published a report showing X displayed advertisements next to “pro-Nazi” posts.
The Tesla CEO and billionaire claimed the organization misrepresented the actual user experience on X, formerly known as Twitter, in order to harm the site.
Following the report, major advertisers such as IBM decided to remove all ads from the platform after Media Matters. The report showed the company was appearing next to pro-Nazi posts on X. Other major advertisers such as NBA Mexico, Amazon, and NBCUniversal had their advertisements appear on posts with the words “White Lives Matter.”
“The split second court opens on Monday, X Corp will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and ALL those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company,” Musk wrote in a post on X.
Musk continued, “Their board, their donors, their network of dark money, all of them…”

“If he does sue us, we will win,” Carusone said.

In the days after the report, as well as controversial comments from Musk himself on X, other companies followed the path of IBM with Lionsgate, Disney, Paramount, Comcast and Apple suspending advertisement on the platform. Musk appeared happy to see them leave, claiming to his followers, “many of the largest advertisers are the greatest oppressors of your right to free speech.”
Earlier this week, the tech billionaire drew widespread criticism and condemnation when he appeared to endorse a an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.
