Trump Pounces To Attack Biden Over Hostages — Smack In The Middle Of Deal To Return American Hostages

Former President Donald Trump leaped to attack President Joe Biden over hostages taken by Hamas — smack in the middle of a deal to return American hostages that briefly hit a snag.

After a lot of anticipation, news broke Tuesday night that a deal between Israel and Hamas — negotiated by international partners including Qatar, Egypt, and the United States — to release 50 hostages taken by Hamas in exchange for a four-day humanitarian “pause” in the fighting and the release of 150 Palestinian prisoners.

On Friday, President Biden took to the lectern at the White Elephant Nantucket in Nantucket, Massachusetts to speak about the first group of hostages to be released under the deal — which did not include Americans who were taken during the brutal October 7 Hamas terrorist attack.

The deal hit a snag on Saturday when Hamas accused Israel of violating the agreement and announced a delay, which was eventually resolved, and the deal was put back on track.

In the middle of the delicate negotiations, Trump inserted himself to take shots at Biden’s administration over the fact that the Americans had not been released yet.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

Has anybody noticed that Hamas has returned people from other Countries but, so far, has not returned one American Hostage? There is only one reason for that, NO RESPECT FOR OUR COUNTRY OR OUR LEADERSHIP. This is a very sad and dark period of America!

That attack was among several bitter posts attacking targets on Saturday, although with less international import in the case of his comlaint about The Atlantic:

The president told reporters Friday he did not know when the Americans would be released, but that “it is my hope and expectation it will be soon.”
