‘We Have Yet to See Anything!’ CNN Anchor Confronts Trump Adviser Over Stunning ‘200 Deals’ Claim

CNN anchor Pamela Brown confronted White House Council of Economic Advisors Chair Stephen Miran over President Donald Trump’s claim he’s made “200 deals” on Wednesday, noting “we have yet to see anything” on that front.

When Time Magazine interviewers confronted Trump recently with the fact that there are “zero deals so far,” Trump claimed “I’ve made 200 deals” — but couldn’t provide details.

On Wednesday’s edition of CNN’s The Situation Room, Brown wrapped up her interview with Miran by asking him what’s the deal with the deals:

PAMELA BROWN: Very quickly follow-up, President Trump said there’s 200 trade deals.

When are we going to see details of these deals? We have yet to see anything!

TRUMP CEA CHAIR STEPHEN MIRAN: So the trade deals are making good progress, and the negotiating teams are hard at work moving those forward.

PAMELA BROWN: What does “good progress mean?

TRUMP CEA CHAIR STEPHEN MIRAN: I’ve been impressed with the progress. I’ve been impressed with the progress.

PAMELA BROWN: Just to make sure I understand what you’re saying, what does good progress mean? So it’s not actually finished, it’s just they’re going back and forth.

TRUMP CEA CHAIR STEPHEN MIRAN: Yeah, so they’ve got outlines of deals with a number of countries that are pretty close to the finish line. And it’s just hammering out some details, and I expect those details to start coming out in coming days and weeks. And I think that everyone’s–.

PAMELA BROWN: How many countries?

TRUMP CEA CHAIR STEPHEN MIRAN: Well, we’ve received written offers from almost 20 countries, and those are the countries that were prioritizing the negotiations.

PAMELA BROWN: Can you name a few, just to be more specific?

TRUMP CEA CHAIR STEPHEN MIRAN: I’m afraid I can’t. Look, you know, I’m not a trade negotiator.

PAMELA BROWN: That’s fair.

TRUMP CEA CHAIR STEPHEN MIRAN: I’m, I am not directly involved in the negotiations myself. You know, we’re, we are economists here at the Council of Economic Advisors.

But you know I have, I have been party to some of the talks. And you know. I’ve been impressed with what’s happening.

PAMELA BROWN: Okay great, just looking for information, but I understand you’re in a different position than actually being the trade negotiator.

Stephen Miran, thank you so much for coming on the show and telling us what you can.

TRUMP CEA CHAIR STEPHEN MIRAN: Thanks for having me.
