‘We Must All Watch’: MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan Shares Harrowing CNN Visit To Israeli Morgue Showing Hamas’s ‘Brutality’

MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan has received criticism for his position on Israel’s response to the Hamas terror attacks on October 7, but issued his own sharp condemnation of the brutality of Hamas in a tweet he posted on Monday.

In a show of journalistic solidarity, Hasan shared a CNN segment led by anchor Sara Sidner about how Israel is managing the dead with a makeshift morgue and changes to burial laws. (You can watch that video above; be aware it contains graphic footage that might be difficult to watch.) In the tweet, Hasan says, “This is hard to watch, but we must all watch, as far too many people… have weirdly & cruelly decided that opposing Israel’s war in Gaza requires them to try & deny the sheer scale of Hamas brutality on Oct 7th. It doesn’t.”

The segment above was on Monday’s edition of The Lead with Jake Tapper. Hasan also shared CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins’ account of being shown footage from the October 7 massacre with an excerpt:

The scenes include a Hamas fighter standing on a dead man and continuing to fire into the body at close range. They show Hamas members arguing over who gets to attempt to decapitate a Thai laborer with a garden hoe.

That Hasan is sharing CNN’s reporting is notable, but he’s also showing that he views the October 7 attack by Hamas as “brutal” and that no one should ignore it, even while they criticize Israeli leaders and their military response on Gaza. The latter is something that some of MSNBC’s hosts — including Hasan — have been called on, including by NewsNation anchor and Mediaite owner Dan Abrams, for focusing their critiques solely in Israel’s direction.
