Adrian Peterson Cleared by Vikings Owners to Play Next Weekend
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was cleared by the team’s owners to play next Sunday. The team had de-activated Peterson on Sunday after the player was indicted for child abuse charges in Texas last week, one of several high profile moves by NFL teams in the past few days regarding domestic abuse.
“Today’s decision was made after significant thought, discussion and consideration. As evidenced by our decision to deactivate Adrian from yesterday’s game, this is clearly a very important issue,” the Vikings said in a statement Monday. “On Friday, we felt it was in the best interests of the organization to step back, evaluate the situation, and not rush to judgment given the seriousness of this matter. At that time, we made the decision that we felt was best for the Vikings and all parties involved.”

A Houston grand jury indicted Peterson on charges that he did “recklessly or by criminal negligence cause bodily injury.” Peterson turned himself in to the court on Saturday and was released on $15,000 bail.
In addition to the Ray Rice drama, Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy was deactivated this weekend following an indictment for assaulting his wife, while San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray MacDonald was allowed to play after abuse allegations.
