The House of Representatives rejected an effort to impeach President Trump earlier today, though House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer seemed to imply they might revisit this motion in the future.
Congressman Al Green (D-TX) regularly calls for Trump’s removal from office, and on Wednesday, he presented the House with two articles of impeachment against the president. Despite the fact that Green was able to force a vote on a procedural measure, the resolution ultimately failed before a broad bipartisan majority.
Pelosi and Hoyer sided with Republicans in a 364-58 decision to table Green’s articles. The two released a joint announcement to explain their decision, though their statement included several slams against Trump and questions about his fitness to lead the country.
Interestingly enough, however, Pelosi and Hoyer’s statement ends by saying “Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment.”
