An Atlanta Zoo Actually Named a Cockroach ‘Tom Brady’

On Monday, we posted about a Mardi Gras float taunting the Atlanta Falcons for their Super Bowl collapse, blowing a 28-3 lead to lose to the Patriots. As a result of a lost bet, the city will have to deal with yet another reminder of their team’s epic collapse — this time in the form of a cockroach.

The Associated Press reports that Zoo Atlanta had a Super Bowl wager with the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island. It was agreed that the losing city would have to name an animal after the winner’s star quarterback.

Per the report, the zoos — figuring that the losing city would be upset by the result — opted to designate a Madagascar hissing cockroach as the animal to be named.

And so in the video above, meet Tom Brady — Zoo Atlanta’s newest inhabitant. Tom Brady is going to share a habitat with a number of different insects — all of which are significantly larger than him.

We suspect that wasn’t a coincidence.
