Anchor TJ Holmes Pulled Over By Police, Tweets ‘Driving While Black Ain’t No Joke!’
Former CNN anchor TJ Holmes was pulled over by police this morning and documented the entire thing on Twitter. After immediately getting pulled over, Holmes posted a photo of the cop car behind him with the caption “Driving while black ain’t no joke!”
Holmes explained that he was only a mile away from his house, and there were two cop cars behind him. He tweeted as a police officer was attempting to explain to Holmes why he was pulled over. Holmes sent out two tweets claiming the police officer was unable to adequately explain why he was pulled over.
Holmes quickly updated his followers with the reason provided by the police officer: he wanted to make sure Holmes had “insurance on the car.” Ten minutes later, Holmes explained that he “managed to avoid jail time,” but admitted that his relationship with the local police may have been “soured” by the experience, adding the hashtag #showmeyourpapers.
Holmes ended by revisiting his earlier point about “driving while black.”
Still pissed beyond words right now. But Lord knows I’m not the only this will happen to today. #showmeyourpapers
