Anderson Cooper to Pelosi: ‘How Damaging It Is for Democrats’ If There Was No Russia Collusion?

CNN’s Anderson Cooper spoke with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tonight and asked her about just how much faith the Democrats are putting in evidence of Trump campaign collusion with Russia coming out.

They first talked about the controversy over the president’s wiretapping tweets––which FBI Director James Comey said this week he has seen no basis for––and Pelosi said Trump was either lying “or he didn’t know what he was talking about.”

After she used the word “ineffective” to sum up Trump’s first two months so far, Cooper asked Pelosi if there is actually anything concrete on Russian collusion:

“There’s a lot of Democrats who are putting a lot of faith that there is some fire there, that there was some sort of collusion. If it turns out that there wasn’t, how damaging is it for Democrats?”

Pelosi said it’s not damaging at all because “we do know that there’s plenty of connection,” but there’s still the question of “criminal violation.”
