Barron Trump’s School Joins a Hundred-Strong Call Demanding Action on Gun Control

Will POTUS be able to ignore the nationwide call for gun control now that his son’s school is joining the chorus?
The AP reports that St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, the school that President Donald Trump‘s 11-year-old son, Barron, attends, has joined over 100 schools in Maryland and the D.C. metro area calling on Trump, Congress, and Maryland state leaders to support gun control.
The schools do not want to arm teachers and call for a “robust system of registration and background checks,” particularly when someone wants to purchase an assault weapon. They also, as President Trump did when addressing the nation after the shooting, call for more comprehensive and effective mental health services for those in need of them.
“Statistics from countries around the globe show that it is possible to minimize gun deaths through common-sense legislation,” the letter, originally published by The Baltimore Sun, reads. “Here in the United States, we see that easy access to weapons, particularly those of military-style design, results in significantly higher levels of gun violence.”
“Our school communities represent multiple political parties and occupy different positions on the spectrum from liberal to conservative,” the letter continues. “Please let us do our work. Please act now with vigor, determination, and urgency, on behalf of our nation’s children.”
