Speaking with NowThisNews at the annual Fancy Farm political picnic, tea party challenger Matt Bevin spoke candidly on the senior Kentucky senator’s record. “This is a battle between re-electing someone just for the sake of sending someone back to Washington, but I beg him to tell the people of Kentucky anything that he promises to do in the next six years that he’s somehow been unable to get done in the last 30 years,” he said.
Bevin asserted that the incumbent senator should avoid “smearing” his opponents in himself or Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes and instead offer up concrete examples of something “he’s proud enough of that he can actually run on.”
“I am asking him to be a man,” Bevin challenged the senator.
“He should run on his record. David will win,” he concluded, likening himself to the biblical hero who slew the giant Philistine warrior Goliath.
