Star Trek Actor Anton Yelchin Has Died

Anton Yelchin, the actor known as Pavel Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek film series, has unfortunately passed away this Sunday.

Associated Press confirmed the news this morning when they heard from Yelchin’s publicist, Jennifer Allen. While the precise details are not yet clear, TMZ reports that Yelchin’s body was discovered by colleagues who came by his house after he was late for a rehearsal.

The report states that a freak accident might have occurred since law enforcement found Yelchin’s body pinned against a brick mailbox attached to a security gate at his house. One possibility is that Yelchin got out of the car, left it in neutral, and it hit him as it rolled down his hilly driveway.

Born in Russia, Yelchin moved to America as a child before he took on films like Alpha Dog and Charlie Bartlett. His death certainly comes as a loss to Trekkies, and we shall update with more information as the details of his death become available.
