Comedian Kathy Griffin and singer / Mika Brzezinski fan Cher came together to issue a message to voters: Republicans like Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock are propagating some “sick stuff.”
“There’s a lot at stake in this election,” Cher tells viewers, “especially for women and people who like women and respect them.”
“I’m looking at you gays, LGBTQIA… B… C… D… I dunno,” adds Griffin. “Look, the point is, this is not the election to be complacent.”
“Honestly, this is sick stuff,” Cher continues, citing Mourdock’s comment that children conceived through rape are part of God’s plan. “Do you want this guy in the Senate?” she asks. “Maybe he can sit next to Todd Akin, the Republican nominee from Missouri who thinks that women’s bodies magically shut down pregnancies that result from ‘legitimate rape.'”
And then there’s “the guy who looks like Dracula,” otherwise known as Romney running mate Paul Ryan.
“The point is that Romney and his buddies are trying to turn back time on women’s rights,” Griffin adds, describing them all as a bunch of “gypsies, tramps, and thieves.” (Get it?!) The two then encourage viewers to get out and vote, with Griffin reminding us that, after all, “this is Cher, bitches!”
