Following a tackle in the first quarter of the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday night, a player for Clemson appeared to grab the genitals of a player from Ohio State.
Christian Wilkins, a defensive lineman for the Tigers, approached Ohio State running back Curtis Samuel, who was down on the turf face first after being tackled. Wilkins then grabbed what appeared to be Samuel’s right buttock, then reached again and seemed to grab Samuel’s gentials.
The referees apparently did not notice the act, the play was not penalized. Samuel got right back up and stayed in the game, as the next play was run almost immediately with the Buckeyes in the no-huddle.
Following the game, Wilkins admitted culpability.
“I was being silly and I apologize for that,” said Wilkins, via David Hale of ESPN. “It’s stuff you do when you’re competing, and I know that’s not a good look. I apologize for that, and I shook hands with him after the game. There were no hard feelings.”
