CNN’s John King: The Clintons ‘Just Refuse to Be Human’

kingCNN’s John King explained that the Clinton campaign’s failure to let the public know she was sick was indicative of the Clintons’ broader problem of being transparent and presenting themselves as relatable. In other words, the Clintons have a problem with being “human,” he said.

“Candidates are human too. If she would just be human and be transparent and explain this a lot of people would say, ‘Oh I just went through this,'” King said.

Clinton’s campaign announced Sunday that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and is currently receiving antibiotics. The campaign has received criticism for waiting two days to make Clinton’s diagnosis public, only making the disclosure after she fell ill at a 9/11 Memorial ceremony and video was released of her struggling to get into her car.

Clinton’s critics on both sides of the aisle have noted that the whole incident plays into the pre-existing narrative of the candidate’s preoccupation with secrecy and privacy leading her to make unforced errors and come across as untrustworthy.

“Some of this is staff, but in this case, it’s the Clintons. They just refuse to be human, if you will, and talk to people,” he added.
