DC Newspaper Changes Name In Protest of Gov’t Shutdown

With the government shut down, the D.C. local government was expected to suffer as a result. For the time being, the city government is continuing to function thanks to the temporary use of a special reserve fund, but that won’t last very long. One DC newspaper upset by the shutdown actually changed its name from the Washington City Paper to the Washington Shutdown Paper.

The paper acquired the URL washingtonshutdownpaper.com and this is what you see when you go to its website.

The paper is clearly not happy with the shutdown, most evident in a piece titled “WWII Vets Accomplish More Than Congress, Briefly Bucking Shutdown.” The paper has also provided a complete guide for where you can go to eat and drink your sorrows away over the government being shut down.

There’s probably going to be a lot of drinking.
