Debbie Wasserman Schultz Reportedly Stripped of Major Role at DNC Following Email Leak

DWSDNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz‘s role at the DNC this week has reportedly been significantly reduced in continuing fallout from the DNC email leak.

The leaked emails show that the party was clearly against Bernie Sanders from the get-go. She herself expressed frustrations with the Sanders campaign, and she even complained about media coverage.

There have been many calls for her to step down, and now it appears her role at the convention this week is being significantly reduced.

According to both CNN and ABC, Democrats want her role significantly reduced, and it appears that unlike Reince Priebus last week, Wasserman Schultz may not be speaking at all during the Democratic National Convention.

CNN is reporting that this has gone even farther now:

The DNC Rules Committee on Saturday rescinded Wasserman Schultz’s position as convention chairwoman, instead naming Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, as permanent chair of the convention, according to a DNC source. She will gavel each session to order and will gavel each session closed, a role that had been expected to be held by Wasserman Schultz.

CNN’s Jeff Zeleny said on-air this morning the shift is “certainly an embarrassment for her” and “a black eye on the party” given how much the Democrats were hoping for unity this week.
