Riders Allegedly Kicked Off Delta Plane For Speaking Arabic: ‘It’s Six White People Against Us Bearded Men!’

In a video that is quickly going viral on social media this morning, two man can be seen being kicked off a Delta flight after allegedly only speaking Arabic to one another.

The incident was documented by one of the men and uploaded to Twitter where it has already been retweeted over 60,000 times in just a few hours.

The video comes from the Twitter account of Adam Saleh, a well-known YouTube personality and vlogger from Brooklyn, New York, who urged his followers to “please spread” the video in which other passengers can be clearly seen waving goodbye to the two men while they were being removed by Delta staff from the flight. “I can not believe my eyes. I can not believe it,” says Saleh in the video. “I spoke a word — a different language — and you feel uncomfortable?” he can be seen saying to his fellow passengers.

“I’m about to cry right now. Seriously,” he continued. “It’s six white people against us bearded men,” he says at one point; in his Tweet he wrote that he was speaking Arabic to his mother over the phone prior to the incident.

Other passengers can be seen getting involved in the altercation, with many of them appearing to come to the defense of the two men in question. Salah continued to offer updates via Twitter after they were allegedly removed from the plane:

UPDATE 9:13 a.m. EST: In the spirit of transparency, Mediaite has learned further that Saleh has been the creator of several high-profile and popular “pranks” often times involving racial profiling. In 2014 he admitted that a viral video of his called “RACIAL PROFILING EXPERIMENT!” was a fraud after being investigated by The Smoking Gun, which called the effort at the time, “a sham, a staged production aimed to go viral and pile up views.”

We have no reason to believe that any part of the Delta incident is fraudulent in any way at this time or part of a manipulative prank, however. We will continue with updates as we learn of them.

UPDATE 9:24 a.m. EST: Delta has issued the following statement: “Two customers were removed from this flight and later rebooked after a disturbance in the cabin resulted in more than 20 customers expressing their discomfort. We’re conducting a full review to understand what transpired. We are taking allegations of discrimination very seriously; our culture requires treating others with respect.”

UPDATE 12:49 p.m. EST: Delta has now issued a lengthier statement about the incident:

We take all allegations of discrimination seriously and we are gathering all of the facts before jumping to any conclusion. Our culture requires treating everyone with respect. Furthermore, Delta people are trained to and frequently handle conflicts between passengers.

Maintaining a safe, comfortable and orderly onboard environment is paramount for every flight and requires the cooperation of all of our customers in conjunction with adherence to directions from our crew members. This is a Delta policy and is required by U.S. regulations as well as others governing aviation worldwide.

Two customers were removed from Delta flight 1 departing London-Heathrow today after a disturbance in the cabin resulted in more than 20 customers expressing their discomfort.

We have spoken with the customers who were removed; they were rebooked on another flight. Plans are in place to immediately speak with our crew and other passengers when the flight lands this afternoon. We will provide an update once we have more information.
