CNN security filed a police report on behalf of CNN Tonight anchor Don Lemon on Wednesday after receiving a number of racist death threats on Twitter.

According to TMZ, a man who self-identified as a white nationalist supporter of President Donald Trump sent threatening messages to Lemon which contained the N-word, among other slurs.

“[C]an’t wait to stab your neck,” one message read, in part.

Another read, “U r a pile of rotting Dogshit, racist, communist, socialist, Liberal moron asshole,i will find u U will pay.ill see u real soon.”

An NYPD spokesman told The Hill that the messages constituted harassment.

“It was harassment and they also made a threat,” the NYPD spokesman said. The spokesman added, “It’s being investigated at this time.”

An NYPD spokesman told People that the threats could ultimately be classified as a hate crime.

Lemon was on the air as normal on Wednesday night and made no mention of the threats.
