Drunk UConn Student Apologizes for Viral Mac and Cheese Tirade
The University of Connecticut student who became a viral sensation last week has apologized for his drunken mac and cheese tirade.
The Internet was introduced to Luke Gatti, a 19 year old freshman at the school, when a video surfaced of him getting arrested after attacking cafeteria staff for not serving him some “f*cking bacon jalapeño mac and cheese.” On Sunday, Gatti posted a video of himself to YouTube, saying he was ashamed of his behavior, and offered apologies to the food staff, the school, and others.
“[The manager] gave me so many chances to walk away, but I didn’t listen to him,” Gatti said. “I was a complete a**hole to him. No one deserves to be treated that way.”
Gatti also acknowledged how his drinking played a significant part in the incident and said the original video was a serious “wake-up call” for him to address his problem. The Hartfood Courant reported that Gatti will appear before court today for second-degree breach of peace and criminal trespass.
“He’s a kid that made a bad mistake,” said Vincent Gatti in response to the online condemnation of his son. “[Luke] was wrong and feels terrible about this.”
