‘Emotionally Disturbed’: Charges Possible After NYC Man Repeatedly Stalks Malia Obama
Law enforcement in New York City took a man into custody for psychiatric evaluation after he repeatedly stalked Malia Obama at her internships.
CBS New York reported on the alleged stalking in a Wednesday article. On Tuesday, the Secret Service reported Jair Nilton Cardosa of Brooklyn to the NYPD over two incidents that happened on April 10 and April 12, 2017.
During the first incident, Cardosa “went to the fourth floor of the Tribeca office where Obama was working as an intern, put a sign on a window and repeatedly yelled to her asking her to marry him.” The Secret Service agents at the office intervened and asked him to leave.
Two days later, Cardosa allegedly “followed Obama out of a different office in Tribeca where she is also working as an intern.” The Secret Service again stepped in, and the agents involved in the second incident “identified Cardosa as the same man who tried to enter the White House on several previous occasions.”
The federal agency followed up by interviewing the Brooklyn resident a day after the Tribeca encounter. The agents “determined him to be emotionally disturbed and was taken to Kings County hospital for a psych evaluation.”
The CBS outlet later pointed out that “harassment and stalking charges are being considered by the NYPD.”
