Fl. Mayor Bans Trump ‘Until We Fully Understand the Dangerous Threat Posed by All Trumps’

The mayor of a Florida city flipped the script on Donald Trump, barring the Republican presidential candidate from entering his city in the wake of Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States.

Trump made his proposition in a press release Monday, calling for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.” Asked to clarify if he included Muslim-Americans living abroad, Trump said his proposal extended to “everyone.”

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman played with Trump’s words in a post on Twitter, insisting the business mogul is persona non grata in his city “until we fully understand the dangerous threats posed by all Trumps.”

I am hereby barring Donald Trump from entering St. Petersburg until we fully understand the dangerous threat posed by all Trumps.

Trump’s comment received significant backlash from politicians and media pundits. Former Vice President Dick Cheney said banning people from entering the US based on religious affiliation “goes against everything we stand for and believe in.”

Still, Trump defended his proposal in a media blitz after the statement, comparing the suggestion to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt‘s treatment of Japanese-Americans during WWII.
