Flight Attendant Peaces Out of Packed Plane by Deploying Emergency Slide
First of all, have you ever heard of Steven Slater? If you’ve been a longtime Mediaite reader, you probably have. He was a flight attendant who quit his job in 2010 by making an announcement on the loudspeaker, grabbing two beers, and deploying the emergency slide. In spite of quitting, he still got fired, and almost went to prison!
The incident repeated itself today when a United Airlines flight attendant deployed the slide on the tarmac at Bush Intercontinental in Houston. According to ABC 7, no one knows why the attendant did it, but there were 159 passengers and five other crew members on the flight.

Here’s what United Airlines said:
We hold all of our employees to the highest standard. The unsafe behavior is unacceptable and does not represent the more than 20,000 flight attendants who ensure the safety of our customers. United is reviewing the matter and they have removed the employee from her flying duties.
The attendant has currently been relieved of her flying duties.
The plane was taken from rotation and given a safety check. It has a nice new slide now and you better believe we will update you when more details become available. We will do it in Slater’s honor.
