Fmr. Miss Universe Alicia Machado Tells NBC Trump Doesn’t Like Blacks or Latinos
Former Miss Universe champion Alicia Machado continued speaking out against Donald Trump in an NBC interview first aired Tuesday, in which she recalled the GOP presidential candidate saying hateful things about Latinos and African Americans.
“Do you think he’s racist?” Natalie Morales asked.
“Yes. Yes, absolutely,” Machado said. “I listened [to] a few comments from him when he was my boss.” Though she balked at repeating any of the things he said because she didn’t want to air the hateful remarks.
Machado confirmed that he had said racist things directed at both the Latino and Black communities, and was now trying to distract the public from his past remarks.
Machado, who won the beauty pageant then-co-owned by Trump in 1996, is back in the spotlight after Hillary Clinton mentioned her during the presidential debate Monday. Her campaign subsequently released a 2-minute ad featuring Machado recalling her experience of Trump insulting her weight gain, forcing her to exercise in front of TV cameras, and calling her names like “Miss Piggy,” “Miss Eating Machine,” and “Miss Housekeeping.”
