Geraldo Rivera Calls For Melania’s Chief of Staff to Be Fired Over Jacket Snafu

“Whoever the chief of staff for the first lady should be fired for allowing her to wear that jacket to the border,” said Geraldo Rivera Friday morning on Fox & Friends.

That person, for the record, is Lindsay Reynolds — a former George W. Bush White House staffer. Reynolds has served as Melania Trump‘s Chief of Staff since February 2017. But in Geraldo’s view, Reynolds should be dismissed for allowing the First Lady to be photographed wearing a jacket which said, “I REALLY DON’T CARE DO U” while en route to tour a facility housing detained migrant children in Texas.

“Here [Melania] had a noble gesture,” Geraldo said. “Totally selfless. So important. And she wore a coat that gave critics of the president something else to talk about to deflect the fact that she had gone to see with her own eyes this tragic situation.

“I think it was a staff error,” he added. “A rookie mistake.”

Fox & Friends co-anchor Steve Doocy concurred.

“Got us talking about the wrong stuff,” Doocy said.

And make no mistake, people were talking.
