‘I Have No Idea Where They Got It’: Trump Says Release of 2005 Tax Return is an ‘Illegal Thing’
— Fox News (@FoxNews) March 15, 2017
In an interview that will be aired later this evening on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight, President Donald Trump talks about the public reveal of two pages from his 2005 tax returns.
Speaking to host Tucker Carlson, the president comments that the release of his 1040 was “illegal,” while at the same time pointing out that it was not embarrassing. He also notes that he is unaware how reporter David Cay Johnston received the return.
“I have no idea where they got it but it’s illegal and they’re not supposed to have it and its not supposed to be leaked and it’s certainly not an embarrassing tax return at all but it’s an illegal thing they’ve been doing it,” POTUS noted. “They’ve done it before and I think it’s a disgrace.”
It has been speculated by some that due to the amount of income and taxes paid shown on the 1040, that Trump himself was perhaps behind the leak. MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough was among those who pointed it out this morning, leading into a Twitter battle with Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
Elsewhere in the interview, Trump is asked about his wiretap claims. He said that wiretap “covers a lot of different things” and that more will come out in the forefront “in the next two weeks.”
