‘I Think It is Tweet Happy’ and ‘Clickbait’: RNC Spox Slams Politico’s Coverage … At Politico Event
Well, it is really no secret that President-elect Donald Trump is no fan of Politico. Like he’s done with other media outlets, Trump has taken to his Twitter account to rip the political publication’s coverage. During the campaign, a Politico reporter was denied access to a rally after writing a critical article about then campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
During a live Politico broadcast on C-SPAN this afternoon, Republican National Committee communications director Sean Spicer showed up to presumably talk about what we should expect from the incoming POTUS. However, the conversation got off to a rocky start.
Spicer, who is now a leading candidate to be the White House’s press secretary, went right after the site’s coverage of Trump and the GOP.
Saying that they respect the role of the media, Spicer nonetheless complained about how “Politico has engaged in covering politics, especially our side.”
“I think it is tweet happy,” the RNC spox said. “It is clickbait, in many cases. And it is devoid of facts.”
Spicer then highlighted some recent stories, digging into a large folder for examples.
