Internet Mad After Reince Priebus Wanted Clinton to Smile at Forum
Some people just do not learn.
Here is what Reince Priebus tweeted last night after Hillary Clinton appeared on NBC News’ Commander in Chief Forum:
@HillaryClinton was angry + defensive the entire time – no smile and uncomfortable – upset that she was caught wrongly sending our secrets.
— Reince Priebus (@Reince) September 8, 2016
This has happened before. Remember when Joe Scarborough tweeted that Clinton should smile more during her DNC speech? Remember the backlash he faced? Telling women to smile has long been considered sexist. There are entire street art campaigns and whole non-profit organizations dedicated to educating people about how and why it is inappropriate to police the tone or appearance of a professional woman in ways that wouldn’t be employed for a man. Somehow, though, Priebus just went ahead with his tweet and, just like with Scarborough, he faced Internet ire and a mocking hashtag.

Clinton has responded, as well, albeit with less selfies than defenders online.
