Iranian Foreign Minister Tweets Response to Tom Cotton’s ‘Macho Personal Smear’
A few weeks ago, Republican Senator Tom Cotton got 46 of his Republican colleagues to sign onto a letter lecturing Iran about how America’s government and the Constitution works, for the purpose of asserting Congress’ role in the Iranian nuclear negotiations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Zavad Jarif name-checked the senator yesterday by saying they’ll get things done “whether Senator Cotton likes it or not.” That led to Cotton going after Jarif on Twitter:
Hey @JZarif, I hear you called me out today. If you’re so confident, let’s debate the Constitution. 1/4
— Tom Cotton (@SenTomCotton) April 29, 2015
He proceeded to set the terms of such a debate and called Zarif a coward.
Well, Zarif ended up responding on Twitter earlier today:
Serious diplomacy, not macho personal smear, is what we need. Congrats on Ur new born. May U and Ur family enjoy him in peace .@SenTomCotton
— Javad Zarif (@JZarif) April 30, 2015
And in case you’re wondering, yes, Cotton’s wife Anna gave birth to a baby boy this week.
