John McCain Wins Arizona Senate Race
Five-term Republican Senator from Arizona John McCain has won himself six more years by defeating Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, reports Fox News.
McCain, the 2008 Republican candidate for president, had a commanding lead in the polls as of Monday afternoon.
The RealClearPolitics average of recent polls showed McCain with a 10.0-point lead. FiveThirtyEight said it was a “really long shot” for Democrats (emphasis theirs), saying that McCain had a 98.1% chance of winning a sixth term. Both outlets turned out to be correct.
