‘It’s Not for Me to Comment’: Kellyanne Conway Punts When Asked About Michael Flynn and Russia
During an appearance on Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor tonight, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway was asked about the Washington Post report on National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his conversations with the Russian ambassador prior to President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
As guest host Eric Bolling noted to Conway, the Post reported that nine separate sources confirmed that Flynn discussed sanctions imposed by the Obama Administration, contrary to how the conversations were described by the Trump team. Asking her where the administration is on this situation, Conway wasn’t willing to give a clear answer.
“My thought is it’s not for me to comment any further on that at this time, Eric,” the White House aide said. Explaining that Vice President Mike Pence’s earlier remarks on the topic were based on his conversations with Flynn, Conway said everything was in “the public domain” so she’d “just repeat that and leave that there.”
In response to a question on whether the Post got it wrong, Conway again wasn’t inclined to give a definitive answer.
“I think that these are highly sensitive matters and I would prefer not to comment any further,” she stated, leaving it at that.
