Jezebel and Michelle Malkin Agree on One Thing: Gwyneth Paltrow

Jezebel and Michelle Malkin really don’t see eye-to-eye most of the time. A 2009 Jezebel post on Malkin is titled “Is Michelle Malkin A Decent Human Being?” and the first sentence of the post is “No, of course not!”

So it might seem a teeny bit surprising to see a Jezebel post today with the headline “I Totally Agree With Michelle Malkin For the First Time Ever.”

Now, you might wonder what intractable political squabble this could be about. Or you read the headline so you know it’s about Gwyneth Paltrow.

Paltrow, you see, is embarking on something of a poverty tour, participating in the SNAP Challenge to live for a week on food that costs less than $29. And while the thought behind it is a nice one, neither Jezebel nor Malkin are impressed.

Malkin mocked Paltrow’s “poverty voyeurism” in a blog post today and brought the snark:

[T]his doesn’t mean she has to give up her $1,200 pair of Tom Ford black platform heels or anything else in her well-appointed shoe closet. All she had to do was snap a Vogue-ready photo of her $29 haul of austerity grocery items (likely purchased by one of her many private kitchen assistants at an organic food market in West L.A.).

Pobrecita. Everyone on the planet except for rail-thin Paltrow seems to have understood the hilarity of Hollywood’s most famous detox dieter — whose calorie intake rivals an earthworm’s — pretending to have the sads over her SNAP menu.

Jezebel also mocked Paltrow a few days ago, but today, writer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd said aside from how she normally hates Malkin’s “retrograde bile” and “right-wing vitriol,” she actually has a point here:

[H]er point is clear and concise and something that I totally agree with, even if I do still believe she is totes the devs. We have reached a point of mutual understanding. Gwyneth Paltrow is the great unifier. Our shared disdain for her bullshit will heal the world.

And Malkin noticed:
