Lena Dunham Defends Diana Falzone Against Fox News: ‘They’re the Ones Who Lost’
Lena Dunham attended this week’s Met Gala, but unfortunately was reportedly rushed from the event to the emergency room, where she underwent a series of tests and was released. Dunham has always been public about her battle with endometriosis and is an advocate for awareness of the disease as well as women’s health issues as a whole.
The Girls creator and star posted an Instagram selfie from her hospital bed and thanked fans for “all the love & concern that’s been pouring in since Tuesday.” She wrote that while she’s “healthier than [she] was a year ago, complications arose from [her] most recent endometriosis surgery.”
She then noted that she’s “lucky” to be able to get medical attention when she has issues, and suggested that those who are able “pay it forward by supporting Planned Parenthood and LGBTQ clinics like Callen-Lorde” both financially and with our time.
Dunham then praised women who suffer from chronic illnesses, saying that it makes them strong rather than weak. “We do our jobs with skill even when we’re struggling. We care families even when we can hardly care for ourselves. We serve major face on a red carpet when we feel like lying face down would be more appropriate,” she wrote.
Then, she talked about Diana Falzone, who on Tuesday sued the Fox Network for demoting her after she talked about her infertility. Dunham argued, “They’re the ones who lost when they fired her, because everyone who’s anyone knows that if you can battle chronic illness there’s nothing you can’t take on.”
