Mary Tyler Moore Has Died at Age 80
Mary Tyler Moore has died at the age of 80, according to a report from TMZ. Her rep, Mara Buxbaum issued a statement to the site, saying, “Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine.
The statement continues, “A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”
TMZ reported today today that Moore was in a Connecticut hospital in grave condition. According to one of TMZ’s sources, Moore had been on a respirator for more than a week, and family members were at the hospital with her.
In 2011, Moore had brain surgery. She also lived with diabetes.
She’s best known for her work on The Dick Van Dyke Show and for the successful Mary Tyler Moore Show.
