Michael Hayden on Gov’t Leaks: Millennials Are ‘Culturally’ Different on Secrecy Issues
Former CIA Director Michael Hayden said in an interview this week that a reason there are so many leaks coming from within the government is because of the millennial mindset.
This is what Hayden said in a BBC interview yesterday:
“In order to do this kind of stuff, we have to recruit from a certain demographic. And I don’t mean to judge them at all, but this group of millennials and related groups simply have different understandings of the words loyalty, secrecy, and transparency than certainly my generation did.”
He cited Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden in saying that millennials “culturally… have different instincts than people who made the decision to hire them.”
