Michelle Obama Clarifies ‘When They Go Low, We Go High’: Voting Is Our High!
By now, you’ve become very familiar with Michelle Obama‘s rallying cry for left-leaning voters: “When they go low, we go high.”
She said it during her speech at this year’s Democratic convention and when it stuck, she and Hillary Clinton started using it all the time. Sometimes, it’s a proclamation. Other times, it functions as a call-and-response with audiences.
Today, during a much-hyped joint appearance with Clinton, she explained that she wanted everyone in attendance to vote early. Then, she said that voting is the high they’ve been talking about for months.
“Our vote is the ultimate way we go high when they go low!” she announced. “Voting is our high!”
She updated the call-and-response, then, yelling, “How do we go high?”
“We vote!” came the answer.
She encouraged attendees to leave the venue and go vote today.
Donald Trump, for his part, has discouraged early voting, claiming it helps “rig” elections.
