Nancy Pelosi Makes Gaffe During Victory Speech: ‘Let’s Hear it For More Pre-Existing Medical Conditions!’
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had a bit of a flub on Tuesday night as she delivered a victory speech for Democrats now that they’ve taken control of the House of Representatives.
Pelosi was greeted with chants of “Speaker! Speaker!” when she arrived at the lectern, and she began her address by saying tonight’s victory will lead to “restoring the Constitution’s checks and balances to the Trump Administration.”
As she celebrated the end of the GOP’s assault on the Affordable Care Act, however, Pelosi seemed to get tied up — since she tried to get the audience to cheer over coverage for pre-existing conditions.
That’s what she presumably meant, at least. But instead, the audience cheered when she said “Let’s hear it more for pre-existing medical conditions!”
Oops.
