Nancy Pelosi: Obamacare Was ‘One of the Most Transparent Drafting Processes in Recent Memory’

pelosi6

Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi attacked the closed-door drafting of the Republican Affordable Care Act replacement, arguing on Twitter Tuesday that the drafting process of Obamacare was one of the most transparent in recent times.

Meanwhile, Republicans are making the exact opposite claim. House Republican Jason Chaffetz said on Fox News Radio that the drafting of the Republican bill was transparent, and it was the Obamacare drafting process that was opaque.

The lack of transparency surrounding Obamacare has long been a Republican talking point, stemming from a number of backroom deals that made it happen. Those complaints were amplified when Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber was caught on video in 2014 saying that “lack of transparency” and the “stupidity of the American voter” aided the bill’s passage.
