NYPD Commish Takes Action Against Cop Who Ranted at Uber Driver
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton today apologized over the plainclothes officer who went on a very angry rant to an Uber driver on hidden camera.
The officer, now identified as Patrick Cherry, shouted at the driver over a minor issue, yelling things like “You gonna let me fucking finish?!” and “”How long have you been in this country?!”
The NYPD investigated, and today Bratton said publicly that Cherry has been removed from the Joint Terrorism Task Force, is doing desk duty, will be transferred out, and had to hand over his badge and gun.
Bratton apologized to the driver and said, “In that kind of encounter, anger like that is unacceptable. In any kind of encounter, discourtesy like that and language like that is unacceptable… No good cop can watch that without a wince.”
