Palestinian Teen’s Body Found in Jerusalem; Feared to Be Revenge Killing

The body of a 16-year-old Palestinian teen was found in a Jerusalem forest Wednesday, in what many fear was a revenge killing for the abduction and murder of three Israeli teenagers. Police say the body of Muhammad Hussein Abu Khdeir was discovered about one hour after reports of a Palestinian teen being forced into a car in East Jerusalem.

The three Israeli teens went missing while hitchhiking three weeks ago; after a massive search by the Israeli military, their bodies were recovered Monday. Israeli officials believe Hamas, the Palestinian organization in the West Bank, was behind the murders.

Israeli official Yitzhak Aharonovich called on all parties to “lower the volume.”

“There are attempts to make a connection between the two incidents and we are still checking all directions,” he said. “There are many possibilities, criminal and nationalistic, and everything is being examined in a responsible manner.”

Rumors that this will get worse before it gets better went unconfirmed at press time.
