Patton Oswalt Has Ideas for What to do Instead of Watching The Inauguration
Comedian Patton Oswalt has never supported President-Elect Donald Trump and since the election he’s taken to social media to express his disappointment and concern. On the eve of the Inauguration, in a Facebook post he admitted, “I don’t know what to do tomorrow, either. Or the day after that or ANY of the days after that.”
He does, however, offer a few ideas. Spoiler alert: None of them involve watching the inauguration. “Leave your TV tuned to a channel like Turner Classic Movies or National Geographic or any channel that will have zero inaugural coverage,” he says.
Oswalt also offers ideas to help support small businesses and the arts, “if you can afford it,” he says. “Go find a struggling theater company and pay to see whatever play they’re putting on. Or a struggling art gallery or music club or museum… Tip your barista or barkeep a little extra.”
Perhaps most importantly, he says “Go knock on your neighbor’s door and see if they need anything,” because, as he puts it, “This is going to be a loooooooooooong, tense four years,” and “The everyday weight of keeping the world from cracking apart is COMPLETELY on our shoulders.”
He finishes by saying, “This is gonna be bad. So be good.”
