Pennsylvania Judge Puts Temporary Halt To Voter ID Enforcement
Pennsylvania judge Robert Simpson ruled today that a controversial voter ID law passed earlier this year will be kept mostly as is, but issued a partial injunction that would allow Pennsylvanians to cast ballots without needing to show photo IDs.
According to the Associated Press, the judge was concerned that voters who submit provisional ballots may be disenfranchised if they are unable to provide proper identification in time. Simpson decided that for the November elections, voters without photo identification could vote but would “no longer have to produce identification within six days.”
