Poll: Most Voters Think Trump Should Stop Tweeting as President
Now that Donald Trump is President-elect, a new poll is suggesting that a lot of people think he should take Hillary Clinton‘s advice and “delete your account.”
A study from Quinnipiac University shows that 59% of voters think that Trump should shut down his personal Twitter account, while 35% said he should keep it going. In the same poll, 59% of the participants said they were optimistic about Trump’s presidency, whereas 37% said that they were not, and that 57% don’t think Trump is particularly level-headed.
“Voters tell President-elect Donald Trump, ‘You’ve got the job. Now be a leader not a tweeter,'” Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll, said. “And we’re watching to make sure you put the country, not the Trump brand, first.”
The poll was taken from November 17-20 with 1,071 national participants, and the margin of error was set at +/-3%.
Trump’s Twitter antics have invited controversy throughout his campaign, and it hasn’t stopped even though has now won the election. In a recent interview with CBS, Trump praised the impact of social media, but said he would become “very restrained” with it once he takes office.
