Protestors Project Drone Movie on Homeland Security Nominee’s House

From the more-than-one-way-to-skin-a-cat file, peace activists CodePink had themselves an anti-war movie night in Georgetown—by projecting a film about drone warfare on the side of Department of Homeland Security nominee Jeh Johnson’s house.

While general counsel for the department, Johnson, whose confirmation hearing starts tomorrow, co-authored the legal justification for the use of drones in warfare. CodePink has been actively objecting to Johnson’s nomination, not only for his support for drones but also his views on mass surveillance, whistleblowers, and more.

“About a dozen” members of CodePink, according to National Journal’s Ben Terris, gathered around his house on Monday night, complete with popcorn and mugs of hot cider, and watched a film on drone warfare, booing when Obama’s face came on screen and cheering footage of CodePink founder Medea Benjamin getting ejected from an event.

“We want to publically shame him, and expose him for what he is,” said CP spokesperson Alli McCracken. “We want the neighbors to know who he is.”

The Johnsons were not home, and Terris said the event didn’t draw a crowd beyond some curious dog watchers and a few police officers.
