Queen and Adam Lambert Open Hostless Oscars With a Rousing ‘We Will Rock You’
The Oscars — this year without a host — kicked off Sunday night with Queen and Adam Lambert taking to the stage for a rousing rendition of Queen’s We Will Rock You.
“We will, we will rock you!” they sang while stars, such as Glenn Close, rocked it out from the audience.
They then followed it up with the classic We Are the Champions before shouting “Welcome to the Oscars!”
Prior to the performance, Lambert gushed about the opportunity to perform on the Oscars stage with Queen.
“I lived in Los Angeles for 17 years and to open the Oscars, I never would have dreamed this is possible,” Lambert told Ryan Seacrest.
He continued on: “Queen and I have been working together for six years and been traveling the world and we’re performing this song in celebration of Bohemian Rhapsody— everybody worked hard and we’re celebrating together.”
The rock open was a departure for the Oscars, which this year made changes due to the decision to not have a host for the mega-watt event.
