Sam DuBose’s Bottle of Gin Actually Contained Fragrance

PicMonkey Collage - Sam DuboseWhen Sam DuBose was stopped by former police officer Ray Tensing, he was asked about what appeared to be a bottle of gin in his car just moments before Tensing shot him dead. DuBose insisted that the bottle wasn’t carrying booze, and despite any speculations to the contrary, the coroner’s office has confirmed that he was right.

Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco stated that a lab analysis was conducted for the investigation, and it confirmed that the “gin” was just air freshener. While it is not unusual to carry unopened alcohol in a car, Tensing pressed him on the subject before questioning him about his lack of a front license plate, when things became contentious.

Various media figures have wondered whether Tensing’s discovery of the liquid had an effect on how he ended up handling the situation. DuBose’s family has expressed relief that Tensing is no longer an officer for the University of Cincinnati, and continue to express interest in his trial, where he has pled not guilty.
