School Under Fire for Offer: $100 Buys You Free Pass from Homework

A Southern California school came under fire from some parents after sending out a $100 offer for parents to send in as part of a fundraiser, in exchange for their children getting a free pass from homework for a whole week.

Richard Henry Lee Elementary School sent students home with fliers saying if parents donated $100 to the school, their children wouldn’t have to do homework for a week. One mother found this outrageous and said she doesn’t like a place of learning attempting to “bribe” children.

When ABC7 reached out to the school district, they said they hadn’t heard about this before and decided to pull it. The school superintendent said in a statement, “We absolutely cannot raise money by having parents pay for having no homework for their specific student.”

Parents who already sent in the money will receive refunds.
