Spicer on Kellyanne Conway’s ‘Microwaves’ Comment: It Was ‘Made in Jest’ and ‘Has Been Cleaned Up’

During today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked a question on whether or not President Donald Trump believes household appliances were used as methods of surveillance on him.

“Does the president believe he was surveilled through microwaves and televisions?” FOX 5’s Ronica Cleary asked Spicer (after pointing out to the press secretary that her name was not Vernoica.)

“I will just say the president has tweeted about this,” Spicer responded. “He’s pretty clear that he believes there was surveillance conducted during the 2016 election and we’re gonna wait for the conclusion of that.”

He then hit on the “microwave” portion of Cleary’s question, which was obviously referencing White House counselor Kellyanne Conway‘s infamous comment during an interview earlier this week.

“I think there’s pretty sound evidence that a microwave is not a sound way of surveilling someone and I think that has been cleaned up,” he said. “It was made in jest. I think we can put that to rest.”
